A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DECLARING THE
RESULT OF A GENERAL MUNI CIPAL :E:LECTION
WHEREAS, 'a general municipal election was held and conducted in
the City of Seal Beach, County of Orange, State of California, on Tuesday, the
lOth day of April, 1956~, as required by law, and
WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly given
and regularly given! that vatting precincts were properly established, that
election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished and that in all
.
respects said election was held and conducted and the votes caSel thereat
rec~ived and canvassed and the returns thereof made and delcared in the time,
form and manner required by the laws of the State of California governing
elections in cities of the Sixth Class, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach Met at the
Council Chambers of the City Council on Tuesday, the 17th day of April, 1956,
at its regular meeting on said day to canvass the results of said election, as a
result of which the City Council of said City finds and determines that the numbe
of votes cast for and against the Propositions appearing on the ballot, for each
candidate for the office of City Councilmen and other matters required by law
21 to be as hereinafter stated!

NOW. THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach does
23 resolve as follows:

SECTION 1: That said general municipal election was held and
25 conducted in the City of Seal Beach on Tuesday, the lOth day of April, 1956, in
26 the form, time aad mann,er required by law, that there were eight (8) voting
27 precincts established for the purposes of holding said general municipal
28 dection, consisting of the precincts established for holding county and state
29 elections.

"PROPOSITION NO. 1
Shall the ordinance making it unlawful to drill for, or erect,
contruct or install any derrick, machinery or apparatus
for the purpose of drilling for or producing oil, gas or other
hydrocarbon substances from any well located within the
upland portion of the territorial limits and boundaries of
the City of Seal Beach, California, and providing penalties
for the violation thereof, exempting therefrom the land and
territory within the Naval AmmuniW:m and Net Depot, and
further exemrting any territory annexed aft3r January, 1,
1956, and rep~aling Ordinance No. 446, be adopted? I

1 Harry Cleveland Ross, Jr., and Joe lbrold Tancre and each is decreed to be
2 elected to the offi.ce of City CouncUman; that the candidate receiving the
3 highest number of votes for City Clerk is Frederick W. Hickman, and he is
4 decreed to be/!1.ected to the offfce of City Clerk; that the candidate receiving the
5 highest number of votas for City Treasurer is James N. Scot4, and he is
6 decreed to be elected to the office of City Treasurer.

SECTION 6: 'I'qa City Clerk is authorized and directed to sign and
8 deliver to each person elected a certificate of election and administer to each
9 person so elected the oath of office prescribed in the State Constitution; the City
10 Clerk is further authorized and directed to enter upon the records of the City
11 C.uncil the whole number of votes cas*in the City, the names of the persons

12 voted for, the measures voted upon, for what office each person was voted for,
13 the number of votes given at each precinct to each person, and for and against
14 each measure, and the number of votes given in the City to each person, and for
15 and against each measure.
SECTION 7:
The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
