ING ANY EXTENSION OF THE LOS ALAMITOS
NAVAL AIR STATION IN A SOUTHWESTERLY
DIRECTION BEYOND THE PRESENT LIMITS

WHEREAS~: there ill presently pendihg in Congress a propo~ed
8 Bi,U known as HR Bill 13015 apprOpriating $1,992,000 for t,he ,pUrpose of
9 'LmJiroving the Los Atamitos Air Station, by enlarging the station, artd ,
,10 , ~EREAS, the City is informed that the Navy, under provision

11 of the Bill, intends to condem.n Land extending from the southwest end of '
12 the Air Sta'tton in order to extend the runway and permit Larger and faster jet
aircrafts to operate from the strip, and

. WHEREAS, the station aLso proposes to condemn property for
aviation rights and to acquire buffer lands Leading to further expansion of
the Los'~Lamitos Air Sta~ion, and
WHEREAS, "the City Council of the City of Seal Beach feeLs
that the proposed extension of the Naval Air Station in a SO\lthwesterLy

19 " direction is against the interests of the City, because it places the whoLe
20 area to the south and west of the atr strip in a position of peril from t,hEl
21 operation of supersonic jet planes and will add to the density of air traffic
22 in an area which has ~Lready been declared dangerous from this stal!-dpoint
and frol'll_ the operation of jet planes, and
WHEREAS, the City Council feeLs there aLready exists ample
land tidjoinLng th.e air strip on the northeast where there is little, or no
habitation and where Land vaLues are much lower,
NOW. THEREFORE, the City COUh'cil,of the City of SeaL Beach
does resoLVe as follows:
SECTION 1: The City Oouncil qf the City of Seal Beach
opposes ~ny extension of the Lo.s Alam1tos Air Station in a southwesterly
direction beyond the present limits of the station.
