No fire,otherwise permiesible,shall be st..tad without being put in charge of soma responsible personJnor shall such fire be abandoned until the last spark has been securely banked in or cirowned out by the person in charge. Immediately after such a fire in a strset,all nails,tacks and other pieoes of iron reBultin~ thersfrom must be removed to prevent injury to person or property. Seotion 7. It shall be unlawful for any person to scatter, or permit to be soattered about his premises,or on the walks,streets or alleys adjacent thereto,any loose papers,rubb1sh or trash or broken glassJ or to place or keep aIi' bay,straw or other combustible material on suoh premises in the fire distriot,No l,without covering or enolosing r Ordinance Number i Co. , " . the same from eaposure to careless smokers and stray sparks, or to put or throw any lighted c.gars,matches or other ignited materials or deposit any ashes containing live coals in any place where a fire might originate therefrom. Section 8. It shall be unlawful for any person hereafter to put uP. or erect or maintain any chimney or flue within the City of Seal Beach,composed of combustible material,or to cause any stovepipe or flue to pass through any window, sash or glass on the side of any bullding,or to cause or permit any stovepipe, flue, stove, grate or fire-place to be erected, placed or maintained as to endanger the build1n~ wherein the same i8 situated,or any other building adjacent thereto,with fire. Section. 10. No terra cotta flues s~All be used in Fire District No. l.in the City of Seal Beach.and all chimneys of brick,stoI8 or cement shall be built upon a firm foundation. Seetioll. 11. Any person violating any of the prov1eo~.ns of this Ordinance shall be deemed SUilty of a misdemeanor. and on conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) or imprisonment not more than ninety (90) days,or by both such fine and imprisonment. . ~ 'I ,I" I 1 l' , .
