RESOLUTION No. 729
A RESOLUrION OF THE CITY COUNOIL OF THE
OITY OF SEAL BEAOH OPPOSING THE OPERATION
OF JE!'-PROPELLED PLANES AT LOS ALAMITOS
AIR STATION.
WHEREAS, the Oity Council of the City of Seal Beach has been
informed that the Navy Department intends to add to their operations
at the U. S. Naval Air Station at Lot Alamitos, the tralning of
pilots for the operation of Jet Planes, and are proposing to extend
their run-way to a length of 8000 feet for this purpose, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach believes
that such operations would add greatly to the hazard and danger of
accident and possible terrible explosion by reason of the proxlmity
of the Ammunition and Net Depot, and
VffiEREAS, The Seal Beach Elementary School would be very direct-
ly exposed to such hazard, and
VffiEREAS, the location of such operations at El Toro Air Base
would remove the danger and hazard from flying over a city and over
an Ammunition Depot,
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved, by the City Council of the Oity
of Seal Beach that the City Council is opposed to operations of jet-
propelled planes over the City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Seal Beach does hereby
protest to each and every Naval Command and Naval Authority concerned
with and responsible for the proposed use of jet-propelled aircraft
from the U. S. Naval Air Station at Los Alamitos, California, against
the use of jet-propelled
aircraft at said statIon.
