RESOLUTION NO. 800.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH RELATING TO
THE SUBMISSION TO THE VOTERS OF THE
CITY AN INITIATIVE ORDINANCE PERTAIN-
ING TO THE PLAYING OF GAMES NOT MEN-
TIONED IN SECTION 330 OF THE STATE PEN-
AL CODE. FIXING THE DATE OF SUCH VOT-
ING BY CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL EL-
ECTION. PROVIDING FOR VOTING HOURS.
FIXING THE PRECINCT PLACES. PROVIDING
FOR COMPENSATION FOR ELECTION OFFIC-
IALS AND FIXING THE DVTIES OF THE CITY
CLERK.

9 WHEREAS. pursuant to the provisions of the Elections Code of the
10 State of California an initiative petition was presented to the City Council of
11 the City of Seal Beach on the 17th day of February. 1953, properly certified to
12 by the City Clerk of the City of Seal Beach. which petition requested that an
13 ordinance regulating and licensing any game not mentioned in Section 330 of

the Penal Code of the State of California be submitted immediately to a vote of
the people of the City of Seal Beach at a special election. and
WHEREAS. the City Council of the City of Seal Beach did. on the
17th day of February. 1953, declare it to be the intention of the City Council ;
to submit to the voters and electors of the City of Seal Beach an ordinance in
accordance with said petition at a special election to be held on the 14th day of
April. 1953, and to canvass the results of said election on the 21st day of Apri .
1953. and
WHEREAS. it is now the desire of the City Council that the voters
and electors of the City of Seal Beach should be given the opportunity to vote
at a special election to determine whether the aforementioned ordinance shall
become a valid initiative ordinance of the City of Seal Beach. and ,
WHEREAS. it is necessary for the City Council to designate the
polling places for a special municipal election and to fix the compensation to
be paid to election officers and rent for the quarters used as polling places,
and

WHEREAS. it is necessary for the City Council to fix the hours fo
the' opening and closing of the polls in such electionJ
NOW, THEREFORE. the City Council of the City of Seal Beach do s

SECTION 11 That pursuant to the laws of the State of California it
is hereby ordered. and the City Council does hereby call. that a special elec-
4r tion be held on the 14th day of April, 1953, for the purpose of voting upon a ce -
5 tain initiative petition beretofore 'presented to the City Council on. the 17th day
6 of February. 1953, in the form of an ordinance.
7 SECTION 2: That the polls shall be opened at the hour of eight
8 o'clock A. M.. of said election day and be kept open continuously until the hour
.
9 of eight o;clock p. M.. of such day. when the polls shall be closed.
10 SECTION 3: 'That the City Clerk of the City of Seal Beach is here-
11 by authorized and directed to comply with all of the applicable provisions .of
12 the Elections Code of the State of California in order that said ordinance shall
13 be submitted to the voters and electors of the City of Seal Beach at said spec-

ial municipal election to be held on the 14th day of April, 1953.
SECTION 4: That the City Council intends to ca~vass the results
16 of said election on the 21st day of April, 1953, at its regular meeting a.t the
17 hour of 7:30 P.M. of said day.
18 SECTION 5: That each of the Election Officers shall be paid the
19 sum of $10. 00 as full compensation for their services in conducting said SPllc-
20 ial election.
