THE PASSING AWAY OF ROBERT D. RICHARDS ON MAY l8th, 1942. I WHEREAS, ROBERT D. RICHARDS, formerly of Seal Beach, California, passed away on May 18th, 1942; and, WHEREAS, RDBERT D. RICHARDS fi rat came to the community which is now Seal Beach in the year 1903 and at that time operated the Anaheim Landing Bath House and Bowling Alley. He was later connected with the Bayside Land Company and during the years 1924 and 1925 was Sales Agent tor the Ord Land Company, handling a sUb- division on the penInsula at Anaheim Bay, East Seal Beach. During the years that Mr. RICHARDS re- sided in Seal Beach, he was active in the political lite of the community and was instrumental in the incorporation of the City ot Seal Beach as a city of the Sixth Class on October 27th, 1916. He was elected to the City Council in April~ 1922, and was immediately appointed to serve as Mayor, and taith- fully served as Mayor of Seal Beach until the year 1926. I In 1929 Mr. RICHARDS moved to Norwalk, California, where he was engaged in the hardware business at the time of his decease. --Page One-- Resolution Number ~ w. V l ~ I Mr. RICHARDS 1s survived by his wife, MYRTEL S. RICHARDS and by his daughter, ELIZABETH M. ELLIOTT, and h1s son, WILLIAM M. RICHARDS, all of Norwalk, California. FUneral services were conducted Wednesday, May 20th, 1942, and interment at Artes1a Cemetary. NOW, '!!HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the C1ty Counc1l of the City or Seal Beach in order ~o commemorate the memory of the late ROBERT D. RICHARDS, former Mayor of the City of Seal Beach, and a tire- less c1vic worker for its advancement 1n cIvil gov- ernment; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Ci ty Clerk be directed and,requested to spread this ResolutIon on the Offic1al Records Of this City, in order that the memory of th1s beloved past City Official and honored citizen may be perpetuated, and that copies thereof be sent to his relatives as an expression of sympathy. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was regUlarly Introduced, passed and adopted by the City Counc11 of the City of Seal Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of May, 1942, by the follow- ing vote of the members thereof.
