RESOLUTION NO. tj.qr; 1 2 3 4 5 6 WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach, California, 7 is the owner of a certain police automobile, which 8 automobile is badly in need of repair and not safe 9 to be used by the members of the Police Department 10 in protecting the lives and property of the citizens 11 of Seal Beach; and, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA~ PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF A POLICE AUTOMOBILE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY THEREFOR. 12 \VHEREAS, it is deemed necessary by the City 13 Council upon recommendation of the Chief of Police 14 that a new police automobile be purchased by the City 15 for the use of said Police Department; and, 16 WHEREAS, the Purchasing Agent of the City of 17 Seal Beach has heretofore made exhaustive inquiry in 18 an effort to find available automobiles which TIould 19 be suitable for use by the Police Department.and . 20 after thorough investigat.ion was able to find only 21 one Buick automobile for sale by the Long Beach Buick 22 Co., of Long Beach, California, and that inquiry of 23 different automobile agencies in and about Orange 24 County and Los Angeles County disclosed the fact that 25 none of said automobile agencies would make a compe- 26 titive bid to the City of Seal Beach to furnish an 27 automobile for the use of the Police Department; and, 28 WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary by the City 29 Council in the preparation for national and/or local 30 defense that public interest and necessity demand the 31 Immediate expenditure of public funds for a police 32 automobile to be used to safeguard the life, health DANA R. '. .~ . 1 and property of the citizens of Seal Beach; and, 2 WHEREAS, the Long Beach Buick Co., has offered 3 to sell to the City of Seal Beach a 1942 Buick ~uto- 4 mobile at and for the price of $ 1 ~ 1f~.7~ and will 5 allow the Ci ty a credi t of $..1S'I,SYby reason of the 6 trade-in value of the old police car now being used 7 by the Police Department, which offer is the only 8 offer that the City Purohasing Agent has been able 9 to obtain for the furnishing of ~n automobile for the 10 use of said Police Department; 11 NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that because 12 of the present war between, the United States and the 13 Axis powers and beoause the City of Seal Beach is 14 located in an area adjacent to the shore line of the 15 Pacific Ocean and is liable to attack by the enemy, 16 it is deemed an emergency for the preparation for 17 national and local defense and deemed necessary that 18 immediate steps be taken to expend public money to 19 purchase the aforesaid police automobile in order to 20 safeguard the life, health and property of the citizens 21 of Seal Beach. 22 It is further ordered that the City of Seal 23 BeaCh immediately enter into a contract with the Long 24 Beach BUick Co., of Long Beach. California, to purchas 25 the 1942 Buick automobile at and for the price of 26 $~and receive a credit of the sum of $ 1S/.S., 27 for the used police oar now being used by the Police 28 Department, leaving a balance of the sum of $ 29 to be paid for in cash by the City of Seal Beach to 30 the Long Beach BuiCk Co., in full payment of tile 31 purchase price of said automobile. 32 - - -- DANA R.
