RESOLUTION NO. 211
,
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH,
DIRECTING THAT CERTAIN PROPOSITIONS BE
PLACED UPON THE BALLOT AT THE REGULAR
MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD APRIL 9,
. 1946
Whereas it is deemed necessary for the safety and protec-
tion of the citizens of Seal Beach that funds be provided to defray
the cost and expense of purchasing and maintaining fire equipment .
and maintaining a fire hall building to house said equipment, in addi-
tion to the regular levy for the maintenance of the Fire Department
of'the City of Seal ~each; and
Whereas the City Council has determined that there will be
insufficient funds provided by the existing tax l~y with which
to defray said maintenance cost and expense; and
Whereas 'the City Council desires that a proposition be
placed upon the ballot at the regular municipal election to be held
on the 9th day of April, 1946, to determine whether or not the quali-
fied voters of said city are in favor, or against, providing for an
annual assessment of 10 cents upon each $100.00 of assessed valuation
of property within said city for the purpose of raising funds, in ad-
dition to the limit of $1.00 per $100.00 of assessed valuation for
general purposes as provided by law, with which to defray said ex-
penses; and
. Whereas the City Council believe tha~ by reason of addi-
tional work required and special meetings necessarily held in addition
to regular meetings of the City Council, the compensation of the
councilmen, in the sum of $2,.00 per month as now provided by ordinance,
is inadequate considering the services rendered and work done'by the
several councilmen, and that the sum of $,0.00 per month would be a
fair and reasonable compensation to be paid to each councilman for
