Resolution Numbe~ .- .". 1 2 3 4 RES 0 L UTI 0 N NO, '614- - - WHEREAS the present aid to California aged residents is $" per month; and 5 WHEREAS economic conditions today are 'such that this 6 sum is wholly inadequate in that it does not provide even the 7 bare necessities of life; and 8 WHEREAS an Assembly Bill to increase the old-age 9 assistance to $7, per month has received a "do pass" recommenda- 10 tion from the Assembly Social Welfare 'Committee and is now before 11 the Ways and Means Committee 01' the Assembly; and 12 WHEREAS even this inadequate amount would provide at 13 least a few more of the most necessary items needed for the 14 sustenance of life; 15 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the considered 16 opinion of the City Council, when viewed in a humanitarian light, 17 that this increase is just and reasonable; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council 01' the City of Seal Beach does hereby, most heartily endorse this pro- posed legislation for the senior citizens of our great state of California and urge the enactment of this Bill at the present session of the Legislature; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Clyde Watson and to Assemblyman Sam L.
