RESOLUTION tJRGIHG OONSERVATION or AUTOMOTIVE
EQUIPMENT.
I
'!'he Oity Oounoil of the Oity of Seal Beach, do resolve.
as follows:
WHEREAS, motor vehiole transportation is of the utmost
importance in the eoonomio and business life of this State and
a necessary faotor in the production of materials essential to
the conduct of war by this nation; and
WHEREAS, severe limitations have been imposed upon the
sale of new automotive equipment. including tires and tubes; and
WHEREAS, a program of automobile and tire conservation will
assure a maximum of use of existing automotive equipment;
NOW, THEREFORE, it ie hereby recommended that the following
program be approved:
(1) Universal observanoe of the maximum speed limit of
40 miles an hour requested by Preeident Rooeevelt;
(2) Curtailment of all unnecessary driving;
(3) '!'he sharing of business driving with friends, neigh-
bors and fellow employees on a reciprocal basis;
(4) Voluntary periodical inspeotion of automobiles and
tires to assure maximum life;
(5) The etaggering of business hours to relieve overloads
on available mass transportation faoilities.
