RESO~UTION NO. 240
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
OITY OF SEAL BEAOH, CALIFORlllIA, APPROV-
ING THE TOWNSEND PLAN OF OLD AGE PENSION.
I
WHEREAS, The United States GoverDlllent is seeking ways a1'l4
means to end the depreesion 'a1'l4 restore prosperity in our Oountry,
and,
I
WHIRIAS, no plan tried so:"far has succeeded in obtaining
that goal; a1'l4,
WHIRIAS, The Townsend Plan of Old Aie Pension, if adopted,
has every indication of success in terminating the depression
and restoring prosperity, and therefore is worthy of trial.
NOW THEREFORE, the Oity Oouncil of the Oity of Seal Beaoh,
Oounty of Orange, State of Oalifornia, does hereby resolve, ,as
follows:
1. That the Oity Oouncil of said Oity of Seal Beach iB
heartily in favor of the Townsend Plan of Old Age Pension.
2. That further, said Oity Oounoil hereby memoralizes the
United States Oongress to enact the Townsend Plan of Old Age
Pension into Law.
,. That the Oity Olerk shall oertify to the adoption of
thiB Resolution and forward a oertified oopy thereof to eaoh of
the following: Honorable Senator MoAdoo, Honorable Senator
Johnson and Honorable OODlr'l.man~O~llins.
Adopted and approved thiB 21st day of February, 19'5.
