WREREAS,Proposition No.II on the November ballot
provises for the grant by the State of California to the
City of Huntington Beach of oertain tidelands in front of
said city and inoludes the exploration and (or) drilling
for 011 as one of the purposes for whioh said grant is
proposed to be made,and further validatos a lease made
by the City of Huntington BeaCh covering the drilling for
oil on said tidelands;and,
\7.aEREAS;said proposal is of interest to the entire state
of California beoause of the possibility of serving as a
preoedent for fnrther grants of the heritage of the peoplo
of the state embodied in its tidelands for pnrposes having
no relation to the nse for whiCh they are of the greatost
benefit to the people;and,
WHEREAS; this proposal has occasioned oonsiderable alarm
on the part of ad3aoent communities of Southern Califorbia
resulting in a tendency for instability of property values
and unoettainty as to investment and residenoe in suoh oom-
mun1ties;and,

ITaEREAS;there is no emergenoy justifying the dispoilation
of tidelands of the state for produotion of oil,particnlar~
in view of the ovor production and neoessity for onrtailment,
NOi1; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City l\:Ounei-J! 6'fth:0\
City of Seal Beach does hereby reoord its opposition to said
Proposition No.II and does urg(its defeat by the people of
California in the eleotion November Bth.,I932.
