SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF SEWER PUMP STATION 35-
PHASE 2 PROJECT No. 49886
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The proposed City Council action will adopt Resolution No. and
formally accept completion of construction for Sewer Pump Station 35 - Phase 2
Project No. 49886.
BACKGROUND:

On July 24, 2006, City Council awarded a construction contract to Socal Pacific
Construction, Incorporated in the amount of $894,725 for construction of Sewer
Pump Station - Phase 2 Project No. 49886. In accordance with the contract
documents, Socal Pacific Construction, Incorporated has completed the project
for a final construction contract amount of $957,247.71. Change orders in the
amount of $62,522.71 accounted for 7.0% of the construction contract amount
which is within the 10.0% contingency amount typically budgeted for this type of
project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
City Council budgeted $2.4 million of Sewer Capital Funds for the design,
construction, and inspection for both phases of the Sewer Pump Station 35
Project. The net cost of the project 'including design, construction, change
orders, and inspection for both phases is $2,257,375.48. The project was
completed under budget and $142,624.52 in remaining funds will be returned to
the Sewer Capital Fund Account.
RECOMMENDATION:

Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council:
1. By resolution, determine the work has been completed in accordance with
the contract documents and declare the work to be accepted and the total
amount of the contract is in the sum of $957,247.71.

2. Direct the City Clerk, within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance, to
file a "Notice of Completion" with the Orange County Clerk-Recorder.
3. Upon expiration of thirty-five (35) days from the date of filing of the "Notice
of Completion", direct City staff to pay Socal Pacific, Incorporated
retention funds in the amount of $95,724.77.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL
BEACH, CALIFORNIA DECLARING WORK TO BE COMPLETED
PER CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR SEWER PUMP STATION
35 - PHASE 2 PROJECT No. 49886
WHEREAS, on July 24, 2006, the City of Seal Baach entered Into a contract with
Socal Pacific, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has detennlned that the work has been
substantially completed in accordance with the contract documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
That the work required 10 be performed by said Contraclor has
been completed.
That the Iotal cost of said work Is In the amount of $957,247.71.
That the work Is hereby accepted and approved.
It is further ordered that a 'Notice of Completion', exhibit A, be flied
on behalf of the City In the Office of the Orange County Recorder
within ten (10) days of the date of this resolulion.

Beach at a regular meeting held on the 10th day of March , 2008 by
