SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF THE WEST END PUMP STATION
PROJECT No. 50050
SUMMARY OF REqUEST:
The proposed City Council action will adopt Resolution No.
formally accept completion of construction for the West End
Project No. 50050.
and
Pump Station
BACKGROUND:
e
On November 13, 2006, City Council awarded a construction contract to Socal
Pacific Construction, Incorporated in the amount of $2,363,777 for construction of
the West End Pump Station Project No. 50050. In accordance with the contract
documents, Socal Pacific Constructton, Incorporated has completed the project
for a final construction contract amount of $2,458,282.30. Change orders in the
amount of $94,505.30 accounted for 4.0% of the construction contract amount
which is' considerably lower than the 10.0% contingency amount typically
budgeted for this type of project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
City Council bUdgeted $3,796,000 for the design, construction, and inspection of
the West End Pump Station Project. The budget consists of $3,541,000 from
Redevelopment Agency Funds and $255,000 from the City's Environmental
Reserve Account. The net cost of the project including design, construction,
change orders, and inspection is $3,645,153.32. The project was completed
under budget and $150,846.68 in remaining funds will be returned to the
Redevelopment Agency Riverfront Project Area Fund Account.
RECOMMENDATION:

Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council:

1. By resolution, determine the work has been completed in accordance with
the contract documents and declare the work to be accepted and the total
amount of the contract is in the sum of $2,458,282.30.
2. Direct the City Clerk, within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance, to
file a "Notice of Completion" with the Orange County Clerk-Recorder.
3. Upon expiration of thirty-five (35) days from the date of filing of the "Notice
of Completion", direct City staff to release retention funds in the amount of
$245,828.23 currently on deposit with Union Bank of California Escrow
Account No. 00022401.

BEACH, CALIFORNIA DECLARING WORK TO BE COMPLETED
PER CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR WEST END PUMP
STAnON PROJECT No. 50050
WHEREAS, on November 13, 2006, the City of Seal Beach entered Into a
contract with Socal Pacific, Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, the CIty Engineer has determined that the work has been
substantially completed In accordance with the contract documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:

That the work required to be performed by said Contractor has
been completed.
That the total cost of said work Is In the amount of $3,645,153.32.
That the work Is hereby accepted and approved.
It Is further ordered that a "Notice of Completion", Exhibit A, be flied
on behalf of the City In the Office of the Orange County Recorder
within ten (10) days of the date of this resolullon.

Beach at a regular meeting held on the 10th day of March , 2008 by the
