Ae~haltic Oil Wearin2 Surfac~ (a) When the concrete base is thoroughly dry, all earth, duet or foreign material coating its surface shall be removed to the satisfaction of'the street Superintendent. (b) , Heavy asphaltic oil shall be applied to the concrete base at the rate of 3/8 of one gallon to a square yard, and immediately covered with stone screenings sufficient to absorb and protect the oil, after whioh the looee screenings shall be swspt off and another application of oil at the rate of one-eighth (1/8) gallon per square yard shall be made and coarse sand or screenings shall be evenly spread over the surface'o~ the pavement. in sufficient quantity to abso~b any excess asphaltio oil a~d fill the voids of stone screenings. (c) , If the street SUperintendent shall so order the wearing eur- faoe, as above prepared shall be rolled with a suitable roller until hard and smooth. Any spots showing free oil during rolling 9r under traffic shall be covered with freeh sand. (d) The oompleted pavement shall present a true and even sur- face and a unifor.m bituminized appearanoe. .
