Minutes of August 27, 2007
The Archaeological Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting of August 27, 2007, was called to
order at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was held in the City Council Chambers.

Mr. Whittenberg recommended that a motion be made to excuse Member Coles who repOlied
that he would not be in attendance tonight due to a schedule conflict. He also indicated that he
had not heard from Member Woyjeck, who might be arriving late. So ordered by Chairperson
Vesely.

Recommendation:
Approve Minutes with any corrections detennined appropriate.
Member Dixon presented his written corrections to the minutes for Staff.
MOTION by Dixon; SECOND by Vesely to approve the Minutes of June 18,2007, as amended.

2. Approval of comment letter Re: "Final Cultural Resources Report for Privatization of Family
Housing at NA VWPNST A Seal Beach."
Recommendation: Authorize the Chairperson to sign the proposed response letter with any
amendments determined appropriate by the Committee. Receive and File Staff Report.
Mr. Whittenberg stated that Member Dixon provided revisions to the comment letter and Staff
was in agreement and has provided a copy of the revised letter to the Committee. He noted the
revision to the first bullet point on Page 2. He explained that the report outlines the proposed
process for reconstruction of the existing Navy housing complex located on Bolsa Avenue in the
Naval Weapons Station. He indicated that Staff has no major concems regarding this project.
Chairperson Vesely stated that this is probably an archeologically significant site and he asked if
the Navy could keep the Committee informed of any findings during the reconstruction work.
Mr. Whittenberg stated that the City is already on a distribution list for everything that occurs on
the NWS related to cultural resources.
MOTION by Fitzpatrick; SECOND by Dixon to authorize the Chairperson to sign the proposed
response letter as amended. Receive and File Staff Report..

Mr. Whittenberg reported that Chairperson Vesely has tendered his resignation from the
Archaeological Advisory Committee, but has agreed to continue serving until the
Councilperson makes a new appointment.
