HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Min 1966-08-17 . . . e e MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF AUGUST 17, 1966 The Seal Beach Planning Commission met in regular session on Wednesday, August 17, 1966, in the Council Chamber at City Hall. Present. Absent: Boeger, Crowley, Lanning, Murphy Jones The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boeger at 7.30 P.M. The minutes of the meeting of July 27, 1966 were approved as presented. The minutes for August 3, 1966 were amended to show the reso1ut10n number for the changes to the general plan. These minutes were approved as amended. I. Public Hearing - Allowable Uses in C-2 Zone A draft of a proposed amendment adding new prov1sions relating to issuance of special use permits for certain uses in the commercial zones. After general discussion and minor changes, Mr. Crowley moved to approve the proposed amendment and recommend its adoption by the City Council. Motion seconded by Mrs. Lanning and passed unanimously by the members present. Resolution No. 78. II. Public Hearing - Norman E. Dalbey, V-8-66 Norman E. Dalbey, 255 17th St., Seal Beach, request a variance from parking requirements for a single family residence. One half of eX1sting double garage has been converted into l1ving quarters leaving only one covered parking space. Legal description of th1s property is Lot 55, Block 219, Tract No. 10. There is an existing exterior concrete slab, but th1s would prevent access to the garage parking space. Conversion of garage was completed without applying for a building permit and does not meet ordinance requ1rements. General discussion followed. Mrs. Lanning moved the request be denied. Seconded by Mr. Murphy. Resolut10n No. 79. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Crowley, Lanning, Murphy Boeger Jones III. Public Hearing - Everett M. Koontz, V-9-66 Everett M. Koontz, 414 No. Placentia, Placentia, California, requested a variance from off-street parking requirements in C-2 Zone. Existing building to be enlarged with no off-street parking spaces prov1ded. Commercial loading zone will be p~ovided as requ1red. Other businesses in the same area have been allowed this privilege. Property described as Lot 9, Block 108, Bay City Tract (209 Main St.). Mr. Crowley moved to approve the request as submitted. Seconded by Mr. Murphy and passed unanimously by the members present. Resolut10n No. 80. e e . IV. Public Hearing - George Fair, V-lO-66 George Fair, 1235 Appleton, Long Beach, California, requested a variance from off-street parking requirements in C-2 Zone. Existing building to be replaced with commercial building with no off-street parking spaces provided. Commercial loading zone will be provided. Description of property is Lot 18, Block 109, Bay City Tract (218 Main St., Seal Beach). Mr. Crowley moved to approve the request as submitted. Seconded by Mrs. Lanning and passed unanimously by the members present. Resolut10n No. 81. V. Orange Co. Planning Commission Variance request in Rossmoor Shopping Center referred to Seal Beach Planning Commission for information. VI. Plan Review - Union 011 Co., PR-8-66 Union Oil Co., 461 S. Boylston, Los Angeles, presented plans for the raising of the existing sign at 901 Pacific Coast Highway. After discussion, Mr. Murphy moved to approve the plans. Mr. Crowley seconded the motion and it passed unanimously by the members present. Resolution No. 82. VII. Other business . Discussion of possible street name changes was held. Requested secretary to set up a public hearing. Discussion regard1ng ma1l box standards was held. Delayed until a later meeting.
