MINUTES OF PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF NOVEMBER 8, 1967 The Seal Beach Planning Commission met in regular adjourned sesson on Wednesday, November 8, 1967, in the Counc11 Chamber at City Hall. Present: Absent: Boeger, Crowley, Lanning, Murphy, Peters None Meeting was called to order by Cha1rman Boeger at 7:30 P.M. I. Public Hearings - Golden Rain Foundation, CZ-1-67, UV-5-67 and CP-3-67 Golden Rain Foundation filed 3 applications to provide the broadest scope possible to solve the problem of commercial uses in Le1sure World. Locat10n is descr1bed as Lot D, Tract 4401. Mr. Omohundro, President of the Golden Rain Board was present. Mr. John Doane, President of Mutual No.1, reported that the Board of this mutual unanimously supported the request. Many persons present protested any rezoning in Leisure World. The Local Tour Club presented a petition protesting any rezoning for commercial purposes. Those protesting were concerned with setting a precedent so that other areas might be rezoned in the future and that taxes might be affected. Much discussion on what offices would be approved by the residents or if all uses other than residential to be excluded. Suggested that each mutual ascertain the wishes of their stockholder and report to the Planning Commission. . Mr. Murphy moved to continue the hearing until 7:30 P.M. on November 29, 1967. Seconded by Mr. Peters and passed unan1mously. Chairman Boeger declared a recess at 8:30 P.M. Meeting reconvened at 8:45 P.M. II. Public Hearing - Consideration of amendment to Article 8, Ordinance 628, concern1ng allowable uses in the PD Comb1ning Zone Hearing opened. Mr. Peters moved to continue the hear1ng for further study. Seconded by Mr. Murphy and passed unanimously by the members present. III. Public Hearing - Consideration of proper zoninR classification and special controls for Butomob1le service stations Hear1ng opened. Discussion of possible zones for better control of location of service stations. Several possibi11ties explored along with controls to protect both stations and neighboring properties. It was felt this should be advertised for pub11c hearing as an amendment to the ordinance. Secretary so directed. IV. Other business Commission advised that an Assistant Planner had been hired and would start to work on December lst.
