Present: Absent: Boeger, Crowley, Jones, Lanning, Murphy None The meet1ng was called to order by Chairman Boeger at 7:30 P.M. Chairman advised persons 1n the audience that no hear1ng was be1ng held nor had been advertised concern1ng 1ncreased park1ng requ1rement. Minutes of the meeting of August 16, 1967 were approved as presented. 1. Cont1nued Public Hear1ng - W. J. McKinnon, V-16-67 Act10n deferred from last meet1ng to enable Secretary to check number of lots 1n the area with comparable situation. By map furnished by developer, 1t appeared to be 11 other locat1ons where s1m1lar converS1ons could be made. Mr. Jones moved to grant the var1ance with the cond1tion that the new parking spaces be fully enclosed garages. Motion fa11ed for lack of a second. Mr. Murphy moved to deny the variance because it would be granting a priv1lege to allow l1v1np, quarters to encroach into the front yard setback. Seconded by Mr. Crowley. AYES: NOES: Crowley, Lanning, Murphy, Boeger Jones Resolution No. 148 Applicant advised of h1s right of appeal. 2. Plan Review - William W. Brun1ck, PR-12-67 Plans presented for construction of a f1ve unit apartment build1ng. Action deferred for submission of application for Var1ance. 3. Pub11c Hear1ng - Myron L. Baker, V-18-67 Myron L. Baker, 1235 Catal1na, requested a var1ance to perm1t construct1on of 11v1ng quarters over eX1st1ng garage which would encroach 6' 1nto front yard setback. Property 18 described as Lot 100, Tract 1817. Two oral protests were made. Mr. Murphy moved to deny the applicatJon. Seconded by Mrs. Lanning and passed unanimously. Resolut1on No. 149. 4. Public Hear1ng - Woodbine Corp., V-l9-67 Woodb1ne Corp., 8857 West Olympic Blvd., Beverly Hills, requested a blanket variance to perm1t certa1n homes on pie-shaped cul-de-sec and knuckle lots to be constructed up to ten feet from the front property l1ne 1n Tracts 6416, 6174, 6421, 6460, 6175, 6176, 6177 and 5699. After discussion, Mr. Murphy moved to approve the variance for Lots I, 3, 6 and 8 of each cul-de-sac (two lots at far end and 2 lots at reverse curve). Seconded by Mr. Jones and passed unanimously. Henrik Volkman, 1220 Marlin, Seal Beach, requested variance to perm1t construct1on of an addit10n room to existing l1ving quarters of wh1ch one portion would encroach 1nto the front yard setback 6 feet. Mro Crowley moved to deny~the applicationo Seconded by Mrso Lann1ng and passed unanimouslyo Resolution Noo 151.~ 6. Henry Espoy, V-17-67, presented revised plans for construction of apartment bU11ding on lots 44, 46, 48, Block ll, Bay C1ty Tract. Variance granted on August 16, 1967 by Reso1ut1on No. 1410 Rev1sion increases number of un1ts from 14 to 15, greatly improved parking arrangement with three add1t1onal spaceso Add1tional variance from rear yard setback requested S1nce parking arrangement would allow for exit1ng only 1~tc the alley. In addit1on, a variance was requested for 6 foot over perm1tted build1ng he1ght for elevator tower onlyo Mro Crowley moved to grant add1tional variances.
