Public Hearing - Irvine Liquor, V-10-67 Irvine Liquor, 412 Marina Drive, represented by Long Beach Neon Advertising, Inc. 1301 W. Cowles St., Long Beach. requested a variance to permit a revolving pole sign on Lots 61, 63 and 65, Block 104, Stanton and Lothian's 2nd Addition. Mr. L. A. Peters, Attorney, made the presentation for Robert Luraschi and Dav1d Craig, partners and owners of Irvine Liquor. lIe stated that this was the only commercial service area in this section of the city and should be allowed the same privileges as other service areas. He also presented a list of existing siAns in the city. He cited tke fact that this business is located at a tive~ point intersection which makes it extremely difficult to locate a identification sign. A slowly revolving sign would have much better appearance than several signs oriented for all directions. General discussion followed. It was pointed out that a smaller sign was being used by displaying different messages on each sign of a rotating sign than would be necessary for a stationary sign. Rotation speed would be 4 RPM which would not create a distraction. Mr. Murphy moved to grant the variance subject to the following conditions: 1. Maximum rotation speed of 4 R.P.M. 2. Maximum height of b6p panel - 12 feet over roofline. 3. Any and all permanent signs placed on building subject to review and approval (including painted w1ndow signs). Seconded by Mrs. Lanning and passed unanimously. Resolution No. l3l II.
