Present: Absent: Boeger, Crowley, Jones, Murphy Lann1ng The meeting was called to order by Cha1rman Boeger at 7:32 P.M. Minutes of the meeting of May 17, 1967 were apPToved as presented. I. Public Hearing (Continued) - Hugh G. Arnold, V-8-67 Application for variance was withdrawn by letter from Mr. Arnold. II. Public Hearing - Standard Oil Co., UV-2-67 Standard Oil Co., P.O. Box 606, La Habra, California, requested a Use Variance to permit construction of a tool house at their present facility located on a portion of Lot C-l, Partition of Rancho Los Alamitos. Because this area is included in the section rezoned as an Interim Zone, a Conditional Use Permit is required. Legal advertising requirements would be satisfied for either type of application. Mr. Jones moved to approve the Conditional Use Permit as presented. Seconded by Mr. Murphy and passed unanimously by the members present. Resolution No. 129. III. Public Hearing - John Hamilton, V-9-67 John B. and Better A. Hamilton, 1712 Harbor Way, Seal Beach, requested a Variance to permit one corner of an expanded garage to encroach l' into the sideyard setback. The property is described as all of Lot 288 except the westerly 6' plus the easterly 6' of Lot 289, Tract 2590. Mr. Hamilton stated that the encroachment would only be l' at the maximum point and would cover a total of 2~ sq. ft. Balance of the the s1deyard setback would be 5' or more. This particular lot is wedge shaped and dwelling is so situated that the house is not parallel to lot l1nes. Mr. Ralph Oakley, 1708 Harbor Way, protested that the proximity would create a fire hazard. No other protests received. Mr. Murphy moved to grant the variance as presented. Seconded by Mr. Jones and passed unanimously by the members present. Resolution No. 130. IV. Plan Review - Irvine Liquor, PR-6-67 Irvine Liquor, represented by Long Beach Neon, presented plans for a rotating pole sign to be installed at 412 Marine Dr. General discussion followed and owner and representative were advised that rotating signs were prohibited by ordinance. They were advised also of requirements necessary to apply for a variance. No action taken pending variance application. V. Other Business Mr. Halsey of the Bank of American made an informal presentation of remodeling plans with an artist's drawing to get Planning Comm1ssion's impression.
