MINUTES OF PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING of December 10, 1962.

The Seal Beach Planning Commission met in regular session on Monday,
December 10, 1962, 'in the council chamber of City Hall.
Present: Chairman: Ray Boeger
Members: James Bender, Robert Griswold, Edward Twining,
William Morrison and Secretary c!ohb. Stratford.
Absent:
None
Present at" the request of the Planning Commission were Mayor Dean
gemmill, Councilmen Stan Ander~on and J~hn Nescher, and, City
~anager John William~.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boeger at 7:40 P.M.
The minutes of the meeting held on NoveItlber 13, 1962, were approved
as read.
Secretary Stratford stated that a report had been prepared on the
gommission~s acction in regard to the request for rezone by the
Rossmoor Corp. and the public hearing before the City Council 1s
~cheduled_for their meeting of December 17, 1962.

Mr. Williams and Mr. Stratford advised the commission as to the
resu~ts of their investigation of general plan consultants. They
presented the commdssion members and council members with copies
of preliminary proposals from Design Associates, Inc., Hahn, Wise
and Associates, Inc., and Voorheis-Tr~ndle-Nelson, Inc.. Mr. Williams
and ~. Stratford recommenq.ed Design Associ~tes, Inc. as the.
org~iza~ion they considered the best and cited the outstanding
approach in this company's proposal.
A discussion was held in regard to the background of the various
firms, what value such a master plan would be to the city, and the
cost for this type of service. The commission took the proposals
under consideration to study and. asked that representatives from
the f:l,rms be invited to come in and adv1se what advantages and
purpose are served in establishing a general plan.
A suggestion was made that the Planning Commission initiate
proceedings to request an ordin~ce change in regard to the
automobile parking spaces required in the R-3 Zone. A motion was
made by YJr. Griswold and seconded by Mr. T~1ni~g that.,the Commission
issue a Resolution of Intention to pe~ition for the amendm~~~~4c ~~~~

notice be made so that a Public Hearing can be held at the regular
Planning Commission meeting of January 14, 1961. The motion passed
unanimously.
