MINUTES OF PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF MARCH 12, 1962.
The Seal Beach Planning Commission met in regular session on
Monday, March 12, 1962 in, the Counoil Chamber at City Hall.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Boeger at 7:42 P.M.
A tormal agenda was no~ prepared.
I2BM NO.1: PRFBENTATION BY SEAL BEACH SCHOOL DISTaIOT SUPERIN-
TENDENT, MARX N. DRESSLER, ON PROPOSED ADDITION AT
J. H. Me GAUGH SCHOOL.
Mr. Dressler discu8sed the proposed 8700 sq. tt. $80,000.00 to
tl15,000.00 addition ot four (4) classroOMS and a music roam to
be provided at J. a. McGaugh Intermediate Schoo~. south of the
pres~nt buildings. Bids would be opened at 2100 P.M., Maroh 13,
1962. If the complete program oould be prOVided within avai~~
able money, (tw~ rooms are alternate bid items). the fourth
grade would be moved from Mary E. Zoeter Elsnentary Sohool and
allow an old building to be removed tram the Mary E. Zoeter
grounds. The additions designed tor McGaugh are "identioalft
to existing layout.
The present enrollment ot 1200 students in City Schools is
approximately double that ot tour (4) years ago. Mr. Dressler,
1n answe.r to a question by Mr. Raines, pointed out that multiple
story shcool buildings may be more prevalent in the future be-
cause of the increasing lan4 costs. .
ITEM NO 2: SETBACK MAP llEQUES.~ "'~__
Mr. Morrison and Chairman Boeger led the group in a disoussion
ot set-back distanoes tram tront property lines in the old part
ot town. Mr. Morrison moved the Building Department ~ovide each
member ot the Planning Commission with a set-back map ot the
entire oity_ Mr. Raines seoonded, and the motion was passed un"
an1mously. By oOPY ot these minutes, the Building Department is
requested to comply.
The me'eting adjourned at 8:.44 P.M. The next meeting will b. held
on Monday, April 9. 1962 in the COllDcil. Ohamber,. C"ity Hall.
