RESOLUTION NUMBER 1396
RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH
APPROVING CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT 18-85, A REQUEST TO ALLOW A
COMMERCIAL PET GROOMING SERVICE WITHIN A C-2 (GENERAL COMMERCIAL)
ZONE
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, an application was duly filed by Paula Coker, 16171 Nassau
Lane, Huntington Beach, California; and
WHEREAS, the subject property is located at 550 Pacific Coast High-
way, Seal Beach, Cali.fornia; and
WHEREAS, the subject property is described as Parcels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
6, and 7 as shown on Parcel Map recorded July 21, 1978, in
Book 119, Page 41 of Parcel Maps, County of Orange,
California; and
WHEREAS, the subject property is the Bay City Center, located between
the streets of Marina Drive, Fifth Street and Pacific Coast
Highway (550 Pacific Coast Hwy.); and
WHEREAS, the property contains several retail-commercial buildings
located in the C-2 (General Commercial) Zone; and
WHEREAS, the surroundibg.Jandl uses and zoning are as follows:
North and South - A mixture of commercial uses located in
the C-2 (General Commercial) Zone.
East and West - Single family residences located in the
R-1 (Low Density Residential) Zone; and
the applicant is specifically requesting to start a pet
grooming service within the Bay City Center; and
WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
the Seal Beach Municipal Code permits pet shop or similar
uses to operate within the C-2 (General Commercial) Zone
when approval by Conditional Use Permit; and
WHEREAS,
on September 19, 1985, the Planning Commission held a public
hearing on CUP 18-85.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby
approve CUP 18-85 subject to the following conditions:
1) That the Planning Commission finds the proposed pet grooming
salon to be of similar use to that allowed under Section 28-
1300(6)(g) - Pet Shop.
2) That CUP 18-85 is approved as submitted and issued to Paula
Coker (The Ark, 550 Pacific Coast Hwy.)
3) That the applicant complies to City and County sanitation
and noise requirements.
4) That the C~P is non-transferable.
5) That no animal shall be kept on the premises overnight.
6) That the CUP shall be reviewed by staff at the end of one
year and staff report be presented to the Commission as
a consent calendar item.
