RESOLUTION NUMBER 1487
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH APPROVING CONDITIONAL
USE PERMIT 16-87, A REQUEST TO PERMIT ON-SALE
BEER AND WINE IN CONJUNCTION WITH AN EXISTING
HOTEL (600 MARINA DRIVE)
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE:
WHEREAS,
on December 16, 1987, August/Palm Ltd., d/b/a Radisson
Inn Seal Beach Hotel, submitted an application for
Conditional Use Permit 16-87 to the Department of
Development Services; and
WHEREAS,
the applicant is requesting approval of the addition of
an on-sale beer and wine bar to an existing hotel; and
WHEREAS,
the restaurant is located on a parcel in the C-2
(General Commercial) Zone, bounded by Marina Drive,
Electric Avenue and 7th Street; and

WHEREAS,
the surrounding land uses and zoning are as follows:
North and West - A mixture
uses located within the
(General Commercial) Zone.

City Center in the C-2
South The Electric Avenue greenbelt in the PLU
(Public Land Use) Zone, and a nonconforming
manufacturing operation in the C-2 (General Commercial)
Zone.
East - A mixture of manufacturing and commercial uses
in the C-2 (General Commercial) Zone, and a mix of
single and multiple family residences in the RHO (High
Density Residential) Zone; and
WHEREAS, the applicant is proposing to convert a storage room on
the third floor, measuring approximately 340 square
feet, to a beer and wine service area; and
WHEREAS,
the proposed hours of operation of
service are from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission finds that the proposed on-sale
beer and wine service will not adversely impact the
surrounding community for the following reasons:
1. Police Chief Bill Stearns. has reviewed this
application and has no reservations about
permitting the operation to commence. _ The Chief
of Police has noted further that there have been
no police problems involving the Radisson Inn.

2. The beer and wine service will not be advertised
to the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of
the City of Seal Beach does hereby approve Conditional Use Permit
16-87 subject to the following conditions:
1. Conditional Use Permit 16-87 is approved for on-sale
beer and wine at 600 Marina Drive, and is issued to
August/Palm Ltd., d/b/a Radisson Inn Seal Beach Hotel.
2. Conditional Use Permit 16-87 is nontransferable.
3. The applicant shall comply with all restrictions placed
on the ABC license by the California Department of
Alcoholic Beverage Control.

may extend the permit indefinitely provided that all
conditions of approval have been satisfied, and no

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Planning Commission of the
City of Seal Beach at a meeting thereof held on the 20th day of
January, 1988 by the following vote:
