RESOLUTION NUMBER 1489
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH APPROVING
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT 17-87, A REQUEST
FOR THE TRANSFER OF AN ON-SALE BEER AND
WINE LICENSE IN CONJUNCTION WITH AN
EXISTING RESTAURANT LOCATED AT
550 PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY.
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, on December 22, 1987, David Bonadonna submitted an
application for Conditional Use Permit 17-87 to the
Department of Development Services; and
WHEREAS, the applicant is requesting the transfer of an
on-sale beer and wine license in conjunction with
an existing restaurant use; and
WHEREAS, the subject of the request is the Villa Sorrento
Restaurant located at 550 Pacific Coast Highway
in the Bay City Center; and
WHEREAS, the surrounding land uses and zoning are as follows:
NORTH and WEST: A mix of commercial and single-family
residential uses in the C-2 (General Commercial) and
RLD (Residential Low Density) zones.
EAST: Single family residential uses in the RLD
(Residential Low Density) zone.
SOUTH: A mix of commercial and residential uses
in the C-2 (General Commercial) and RHO (Residential
High Density) zones; and
WHEREAS, in January 1988, David Bonadonna purchased the Villa
Sorrente Restaurant from Dennis and Rosemary Casey; and
WHEREAS, the proposed hours of operation will be 11:00 a.m. to
11:00 p.m., Monday - Sunday; and
WHEREAS, the applicant is proposing to maintain the restaurant
as is; and
WHEREAS, Bill Stearns, Chief of Police, Seal Beach, has
reviewed the existing records and has no reservations
about permitting the operation to commence.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Planing Commission of the
City of Seal Beach does hereby approve Conditional Use Permit
17-87 subject to the following conditions:
1. CUP 17-87 is approved for on-sale beer and wine at
550 Pacific Coast Highway, and is issued to
Dav id Bonad onna.
2. All alcoholic beverages sold in conjunction with the
restaurant operation shall be consumed entirely within
the building.
3. No video games or similar amusements shall be permitted
on the premises.
4. There shall be no alcoholic beverages advertising in
the window area.

5. The applicant shall comply with all restrictions placed
on the ABC license by the California Department of
Al cohol ic Beverage Control.
6. CUP 17-87 is non-transferrable.

11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily.
8. CUP 17-87 shall be automatically terminated if the
operation no longer maintained as a "bona fide public
eating place" as defined by the state Department of
Alcoholic Beverage Control.
9. All alcoholic beverages sold shall be served by hand
within the premises.
10. The term of this permit shall be twelve (12) months,
after which time the Planning Commission may extend the
permit indefinitely provided that all conditions of
approval have been satisfied, and no significant police
problems have occurred.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Planning Commission of the
City of Seal Beach at a meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of
February, 1988 by the following vote:
