HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Res 1151 - 1978-07-19 . . . e e RESOLUTION NO. 1151 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION REPORTING TO THE CITY COUNCIL RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING THE POSITION OF PLANNING DIRECTOR FOR THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH. WHEREAS, on July 10, 1978, the City Council asked the Planning Commission to study the impact of indefinitely postponing the appointment of a Planning Director and hiring a person to assist the Acting Planning Director; and on July 19, 1978, the Planning Commission reviewed a letter from the City Manager which outlined the history of the planning function in the city and clarified the overall role of the planning function; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission also reviewed a list of upcoming projects and ongoing activities for 1978-79; and WHEREAS, WHEREAS, the Planning Commission does eeport to City Council the following major projects for 1978-79: 1. 180-day moratorium - continuing study through November, 1978. 2. Hellman Property - continuing study to deve16p an overall plan leading to development, approximately 1 year. 3. Complete revision of the Housing Element to the General Plan - must be completed in one year. 4. Preparatton of Local Coastal Program - one year to complete. 5. Housing and Community Development, Block Grant Fund Application - yearly application resulting in over $100,000 1n funds per year. 6. Los Alamitos Retarding Basin Park development. 7. Development of Marina Palace site, Leisure World 5~ acres and Bixby Ranch properties. 8. Planning Commission1s assumption of Environmental Impact Report review; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission is of the opinion that because of the stgnfftcance of these projects and the importance of the planni'ng function to the city, it is recommended that the position of Planning Director be filled in order to provide the necessary level of professionalism to the city that is required. e e . . Resolution No. 1151 - 2 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby report and recommend to City Council that the position of Planning Director should be filled.
