RESOLUTION NO. 1196
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION
DENYING CP-5-79 FOR COIN OPERATED AMUSEMENT MACHINES
AT 905 OCEAN AVENUE.
WHEREAS, an application was duly filed by Nancy Davis, #30, 66th Place, Long Beach,
for Conditional Use Permit, CP-5-79; and
WHEREAS, the property is described as Lot 3, Block 9, Bay City Tract and is more
commonly known as 905 Ocean Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the proposal is to install up to 20 coin-operated amusement machines in
an existing retail business located at 905 Ocean Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission makes the following findings on the proposal:
1. The existing retail structure has no on-site parking.
2. The proposal would intensify the use of the building and thereby
generate more parking demand on a site and in an area already
deficient in parking facilities.
3. The proposed use has the potential to generate significant social
problems and criminal activities.
4. The subject property has a history of building and zoning
violations regarding illegal use of the site.
5. The proposed use is not compatible with surrounding uses or the
community commercial objectives and could be detrimental to the
downtown commercial community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby deny
CP-5-79 for coin-operated amusement machines at 905 Ocean for the reasons con-
tained in the Planning Commission findings.
