RESOLUTION NO. 1196 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION DENYING CP-5-79 FOR COIN OPERATED AMUSEMENT MACHINES AT 905 OCEAN AVENUE. WHEREAS, an application was duly filed by Nancy Davis, #30, 66th Place, Long Beach, for Conditional Use Permit, CP-5-79; and WHEREAS, the property is described as Lot 3, Block 9, Bay City Tract and is more commonly known as 905 Ocean Avenue; and WHEREAS, the proposal is to install up to 20 coin-operated amusement machines in an existing retail business located at 905 Ocean Avenue; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission makes the following findings on the proposal: 1. The existing retail structure has no on-site parking. 2. The proposal would intensify the use of the building and thereby generate more parking demand on a site and in an area already deficient in parking facilities. 3. The proposed use has the potential to generate significant social problems and criminal activities. 4. The subject property has a history of building and zoning violations regarding illegal use of the site. 5. The proposed use is not compatible with surrounding uses or the community commercial objectives and could be detrimental to the downtown commercial community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby deny CP-5-79 for coin-operated amusement machines at 905 Ocean for the reasons con- tained in the Planning Commission findings. PASSED AND APPROVED on November 1, 1979 , by the following vote: AYES: KNAPP. RIPPERDAN. COVINGTON. LEIBERT NOES: NONE ABSTAIN: GILKERSON ABSENT: NONE Secretary to the Planning Commission
