A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION DENYING V-1-81 FOR A CHANGE TO A FREE STANDING SIGN EXCEEDING MAXI~iUM PERMITTED HEIGHT AND MAXIMUM PER- MITTED AREA IN THE LEISURE WORLD SHOPPING CENTER AT 13916 SEAL BEACH BOULEVARD WHEREAS, an application was duly filed by Frank Ayres & Son (owner) and W. Heath & Co., 3225 Lacy Street, Los Angeles (agent) for V-1-81; and WHEREAS, the property is located in the Leisure World Shopping Center at 13916 Seal Beach Boulevard, (Legal Description on file); and WHEREAS, the proposal was to replace the plex face in an existing non- conforming sign in conjunction with a name change for United California Bank; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings: a) The existing 501 311 high sign exceeds the maximum height limit. . b) The existing 192 square foot sign area per face exceeds the maximum permitted area per face. c) Permitting replacement signing as proposed viQlates Section 28-1806 of the Zoning Ordinance. d) No hardship has been demonstrated which deprives this property of privileges enjoyed by other property in the same vicinity and zone. e) Approval of the variance would constitute a granting of a special privilege inconsistent with limitations placed upon other properties in the same vicinity and zone. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby deny V-1-81 on the basis of the findings contained herein. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED on June 17 , 1981 by the following vote: AYES: Knapp, Ripperdan, Covington, Gilkerson, Leibert NOES: ABSENT: None None . Commission Secretary to the Planning Commission
