RESOLUTION NO. 1235
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION HONORING
EDWIN H. RIPPERDAN FOR ELEVEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH AS A MEMBER OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
WHEREAS, Edwin H. Ripperdan served as a member of the Seal Beach Planning
Commission from September 1970 to July 1981; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission selected Mr. Ripperdan to serve as vice
chairman for four terms and chairman for three terms; and
WHEREAS, while serving as a member of the Seal Beach Planning Commission,
Edwin Ripperdan demonstrated an understanding and sensitivity
to both the goals of the community and the needs of the individual;
and
WHEREAS, as a licensed architect, Mr. Ripperdan's expertise materially
benefitted both the City and the residents in resolving complex
design problems; and
WHEREAS, during his service on the Seal Beach Planning Commission, Edwin
Ripperdan was instrumental in the formation and adoption of the
City's General Plan, a new zoning ordinance, subdivision ordinance,
sign regulations, completion of three specific plans and the Local
Coastal Program; and
. WHEREAS, Mr. Ripperdan worked to obtain three new libraries, a senior center,
six parks, a 1200 acre wildlife refuge, new roads, annexations,
seven years of Housing/Community Development Block Grant Funds
and Redevelopment Agency projects; and
WHEREAS, during his service on the Seal Beach Planning Commission, Edwin
Ripperdan, as a major participant of his architectural firm,
was selected to design BREGA LIBYA, a new town of over 20,000
population; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ripperdan's professional knowledge has contributed greatly
to the Commission's and staff's ability and the City.s quality.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Seal Beach Planning Commission does
hereby honor and thank Edwin H. Ripperdan for 11 years of outstanding and
dedicated service to all the citizens of Seal Beach.
