RESOLUTION NO. 1259
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVING
AND RECOMMENDING TO CITY .COUNCIL ADOPTION OF ZONING TEXT AMEND-
MENT ZTA-2-82 DEALING WITH BUILDING HEIGHTS IN SURFSIDE COLONY
WHEREAS, Section 28-503, Building Height Limits in Surfside Colony currently
permits three stories with a maximum height of thirty-five feet; and
WHEREAS, development patterns in Surfside have resulted in thirty-five foot
high, flat-roofed buildings; and
WHEREAS, due to the small lot size in Surfside, buildings are developed to
utilize all available floor space in order to provide adequate
living area; and
WHEREAS, the construction of lofts or split level floors can provide additional
living space while maintaining the thirty-five foot high building
envelope; and
WHEREAS, in order to recognize and provide for the existing development pattern
in Surfside Colony, it is necessary to amend the zoning text to
eliminate reference to the number of stories.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby approve
and recommend to City Council adoption of the following zoning text amendment
to read:
Section 28-503 Building Height Limit. Maximum building height for
residential structures shall be thirty-five (35) feet.
