PR-11-66, (POLE SIGN FOR BANK OF AMERICA AT MAIN ST. AND CENTRAL AVE.) WHEREAS, in the matter of the request for approval of a tall pole uounted sign to be located on the Bank of America parking lot at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue, the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows: 1. Subject case was initiated by Bank of America, 1335 South Grand Ave., Los Angeles, California. 2. Legal description of property is Lots 6 and 8, Block 109, Bay City Tract, located at 208 Main St., Seal Be~ch. 3. Subject case is to construct a tall pole mounted sign on the premises to advertise on-site business. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows: . 1. The proposed type of sign (on a pole, or similar high signs if rooftop mounted) is inconsistent with the village theme which is being developed along Main Street. 2. Approval of such a sign would set a poor precedent, encouraging the proliferation of similar signs, and resulting in a down grading of the city's business district. 3. Because of the bank's location, it is not necessary to install such a sign. Main Street is not a high speed through highway. Persons desiring to locate the bank should have no problems und~r existing circumstances. NOW, THEN, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach does hereby deny Plan Review Application No. PR-11-66. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 19th day of Octob I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted at a regular meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach which was held on October 19, 1966, and carried by the following vote: .
