A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH GRANTING A VARIANCE
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A RETAINING WALL AND
FENCE ALONG THE STREET SIDE PROPERTY LINE
OF A CORNER LOT LOCATED AT 700 DRIFTWOOD
AVENUE. (JONES, V-4-67)
WHEREAS, in the matter of Variance application No. V-4-67, the Planning Commission
does report as follows:
1. Subject case was initiated by William Glenn Jones, 700 Driftwood Avenue,
Seal Beach, California.
2. SubJect property 1S descr1bed as Lot 298, Tract 1817. Street address is
700 Driftwood Avenue. Property is a reverse corner lot, s1ding on Coast11ne
Drive.
3. Subject request is for a variance to allow construct1on of a two foot high
concrete block retain1ng wall with a six foot high wood pa11sade fence on
top of it, to be located along the street side property line along Coast11ne
Drive.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission f1ndings are as follows:

1. No protests have been received, written or oral.
2. A six foot high wood fence has been in existence along this particular
alignment for a number of years.
3. The retaining wall will make possible the development of the rear and side
yards of the property, and the total installat10n will tend to upgrade rather
than downgrade the neighborhood.
4. Traffic sight distance and the neighbor's view will not be tmpaired.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal
Beach does hereby approve Variance No. V-4-67.
