RESOLUTION NO. 118
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH APPROVING A VARIANCE
FOR THE TEMPORARY INSTALLATION OF AN OFFICE
TRAILER FOR POST OFFICE PURPOSES WITHOUT
ADDITIONAL PARKING (WORTH KEENE, POSTMASTER,
V-5-67)
WHEREAS, in the matter of Variance application No. V-5-67, the Planning Commission
of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows:
1. Subject case was initiated by U. S. Post Off1ce Department, 308 Main Street,
Seal Beach, Worth Keene, Postmaster.
2. Subject property is described as the rear portion of Assessor's Parcel No.
043-113-36. Street address is 318 Main Street.
3. Subject request is for variance to allow temporary (2 years) installation of
an office trailer for U. S. Post Office use at the rear of 318 Ma1n Street.
No additional parking spaces will be provided.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows:
1. Because of rapid commun1ty expansion, there is an urgent need for increased
post off1ce space.
2. A new post office is proposed, but to date the federal government has been
unable to locate an appropriate site.
3. Postal service is an essential service for the commun1ty.
4. No parking problems are created in the immediate area, except during the
middle of each afternoon, when mail carriers return to the post office for
a period of approximately one hour. The Postmaster states that approval has
been received for use of the St. Anne's Church parking lot by postal employees.
This lot 1S located approximately 400 feet away from the subject site.
5. No protests, written or oral, have been rece1ved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal
Beach does hereby approve Variance No. V-5-67 fo~a-p riod of two (2) years.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of April 1967.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted at a regular
meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach which was held on
Thursday, April 6, 1967, and carried by the following vote:
