FOR POST OFFICE USE.
\~lEREAS, in the matter of the proper zone f~r Post ofrtc~ Us~, the Planning
Commission of the City of Seal Heach does report.3G followf;:
1. The Post Offi.ce Department plans to expand the servi ce fad Ii tics for mail
distribution in the eit" of Seal nench, This requires n DE'W site. The ex-
isti.n~ Post OfSice on ~lain Street will he retained to serve the dm.mtown nrea.

2. There is no reference in zoning ordinance 628 of proper zone for Post Office
use.
3. Code procedure in such cnses i.s for the Planning Commission to determine the
proper zone and to recommend it to the City C.ouncil fC"'" their final npproval
(by m:J.nute order or resolution),
WHEREAS, the 'Pl~nning COPUllission fincings are as follows:
1. US(!S proposed for the new Post Office cr.nler consist of:
. a. Lohby window service to customer
b. Sorting of mail by clerks and carriers
c. Receiving and shipping of mail over a rear loading pInt form.
2. Such uses are cOr.1pnrahle to retail business with sales, merchandise st~c1dng,
shipping and receiving usually found in flhoppinr, centers, etc. and termed
Service COl'lmerci.ll.

NO\.J, TliEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Plann:lnr. Commission of the City of Seal
Beach does hereby deterlnine that the proper zone classification f~r Post Office
local distribution center use.> is C-l (Service Commercial) and does rt!cOl~1ilelld this
to the City Council for approval.
