RESOLUTION NO. 264
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DENYING VARIANCE
APPLICATION NO. V-2l-68, FOR A SEVEN UNIT
APARTMENT WITH THREE FOOT SIDEYARDS.(GORMAN)
WHEREAS, in the matter of Variance Application No. V-2l-68, the Planning Commission
of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows:
1. Subject case was initiated by Eugenia Gorman, 3534 W. Beverly Boulevard,
Montebello, California.
2. Subject property is located at 141 14th Street, Seal Beach, and legally
described as Lot 41, Block 13, Bay City Tract.
3. Subject request is for a seven unit apartment with three foot wide sideyards.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows:
1. Applicant has not shown any burden or deprivation by virtue of special
circumstances or hardship.
2. Standards within the zoning ordinance are for the purpose of providing light,
air, ventilation, and the prevention of congestion. Reduction of the sideyard
requirement would reduce such light, air and ventilation.
3. Oral protests were made by immediate neighbors concerned about infringement of
light and air as well as increasing the already over-congested parking in the
area.
4. Two written protests were received, both were in regard to the additional
parking problems which would be created if this variance were granted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal
Beach does hereby deny Variance Application No. V-21-68 for a seven unit apartment
with three foot sideyards.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 4th day of December, 1968.
