HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Res 318 - 1969-05-07 . . . . . RESOLUTION NO. 318 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DISMISSING APPLICATION NO. V-25-68 FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR. (MOBIL OIL CO.) WHEREAS, in the matter of Variance Application No. V-25-69, the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows: 1. Subject request was initiated by Mark Taper, 9465 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, represented by Mobil Oil Co., 3655 S. Soto, Los Angeles. 2. Subject property is described as a portion of Lot 384, Tract 1817. Legal description is on file. 3. Subject request is relocate the identification sign and replace with a 32' rotating pole sign at the corner of the property adjacent to the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway. WHEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows: 1. Proposed location would increase congestion of lights at the intersection. This could be hazardous with the traffic signals. 2. Commission suggested locating sign at westerly corner of property adjacent to Pacific Coast Highway to remove it from conglomerate of light and possible more distinctive for station. 3. The rotating signs can be very distractive and not necessarily more advantageous. 4. At their meeting of December 18, 1968, the Commission requested relocation of the proposed sign, detailed landscaping plans and general improvement of the site to bring the station site closer to conformity with the adopted service station development and operations standards. 5. On April 16, 1969, representatives presented plans with the proposed sign relocated and non-rotating. No site improvement had been noted and no plans submitted for landscaping or removal of portable signs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach does hereby dismiss application No. V-25-68, for failure to appear with requested detailed improvements.
