335
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH APPROVING USE VARIANCE
uv-5-69 FOR TEMPORARY COMMERCIAL PARKING LOTS
IN R-3 ZONE. (DUNN)
WHEREAS, in the matter of Use Variance Application No. UV-5-69, the Planning .
Commission of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows:
1. Subject application was initiated by James W. Dunn, Jr. et al, 1501 Seal Way.
2. Subject property is described as Lot 18. Block G, Tract No. 1009. Street
address is 1301 Seal Way.
3. Subject request is to permit temporary use of lot for parking of cars on a
monthly basis only for permanent tenants and owners in the area. No daily
rentals.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows:
1. This type of use could relieve some of the parking congestion in specific
areas.
2. Lot would be surfaced, fences or post and cable would be installed, and
spaces controlled by use of individual chains and locks.
3. Lot presently being used by beach patrons and other unauthorized persons
creating dust and debris problems.
4. Protests were received concerned with increased traffic. Since the use would
be for residents of the area, no increase in traffic should occur.
5. Applicant to maintain nine f~ot setback from the alley for turning radius.
Five foot of this setback to be dedicated to the City for widening purposes.
6. Fences and parking bumpers to be installed. Traffic flow pattern to be
approved by the Traffic Engineer.
7. Approval for a period of one year from date of final approval, subject to
renewal.
8. In accordance with Planning Commission policy, final approval subject to
affirmation by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal
Beach does approve Use Variance UV-5-69 subject to the conditions in Findings
5, 6, 7 and 8 above.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 18th day of June, 1969.
