MINUTES OF PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF NOVEMBER 15, 1967
The Seal Beach Planning Comm1ssion met 1n regular sesston on Wednesday, November
l5, 1967, in the Council Chamber at City Hall.

Meeting was called to order by Chairman Boeger at 7:30 P.M.
Minutes of the meetings of November l, 1967 and November 8, 1967, approved as
presented.
I. Pub11c Hearing - Gary Potter, V-34-67
Gary D. Potter, 5926 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach, requested a variance to perm1t
construction of a two story duplex with detached garage which would encroach
10u into the required s1deyards and three feet into the required front yard on
Lot 13 and Nly 13' of Lot 11, Block 216, Tract No. 10 (213 17th St.). Three
ne1ghbors made oral protests and a petit10n was rece1ved from owners of 12
neighboring parcels protesting the front yard encroachment. Mr. Potter stated
he thought the 9' front-yard setback met the. requirements and that he was
asking for a variance for sideyard only. Mr. Murphy moved to continue the
hearing to allow time to revise the plans to meet the front yard requirement.
Seconded by Mrs. Lanning and passed unanimously.
. II. Plan Review - Bank of America, PR-19-67
Bank of Amer1ca, 208 Main St., Seal Beach, represented by Edward Halsey, Manager,
presented preliminary plans for exterior alterations and installation of an
identification sign. Mr. Peters moved to approve the plans including the sign
as submitted per Sketch #75-5278 dated 10-25-67. Seconded by Mr. Murphy and
passed unanimously. Resolution No. 180.
III. Plan Review - Bernsteins' of Long Beach, PR-20-67
Bernsteins' of Long Beach, 252 5th St., Seal Beach, presented plans to remodel
existing buildings and roof a port10n of present open storage area. Mr. Crowley
moved to approve the plans as submitted. Seconded by Mrs. Lanning and passed
unanimously. Resolution No. 181.
IV. Public Bearing - Clarificat10n of Zoning Ordinance for Ambulance Service
The use "Ambulance Service" is not specifically stated in any zone in the ordinance.
It is necessary for the Planning Commission to make a determination of the proper
zone & controls. Th1s is instigated by a request for a business license.
Discussion of necessary controls and parking requirements. Secretary directed to
schedule a publ1c hear1ng for an amendment to the ordinance.
V. Public Hearing - Proposed Amendment regarding Service Station Locations &
Controls

automobile service stations.
