PR-11-70 FOR IDENTIFICATION SIGNS. (GREAT WESTERN SAVINGS & LOAN ASSN.) W1IEREAS, in the matter of Plan Review PR-11-70, the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows: 1. Subject application was initiated by Great Western Savings & Loan Association, 5200 E. Second Street, Long Beach, and represented by Federal Sign & Signal Corp., 1100 N. Main St., Los Angeles. 2. Subject location is 2999 Westminster Avenue., Seal Beach. 3. Subject request is for approval of a free standing sign and four parapet signs with a total area of 700 square feet. WlIEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows: 1. The proposed parapet signs would detract from the building's architectural design. 2. Placement of a free standing sign adjacent to the sidewalk could establish a precedent in the Center whereby others would request the same privilege. 3. The area of the proposed signs ~ over twice that of the combined signs of the two existing financial institutions in the Center. 4. Large signs are unnecessary because most of the customers will be Leisure World residents who are already familiar with the site. NOW, TlIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach does hereby deny Plan Review No. PR-11-70 based on the findings above. ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 6th day of }Iay, 1970. ~~ the Planning Commission I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted at a regular meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach which was held on Wednesday, May 6, 1970, and carried by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Barton, Crowley, Knapp, Lanning, Morris None None Commissioners: Commissioners: Commissioners: t-L~~--- h etary of the Pla g Connnission J999-W~t2u-z
