RESOLUTION NO. 746
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SEAL BEACH APPROVING AND RECOMMENDING THAT THE
CITY COUNCIL AMEND THE CIRCULATION ELEMENT, STREETS
AND HIGHWAY OF THE GENERAL PLAN, CITY OF SEAL BEACH;
RECLASSIFYING MARINA DRIVE FROM A PRIMARY ARTERIAL
HIGHWAY TO A SECONDARY ARTERIAL HIGHWAY.
.
WHEREAS, in the matter of Reclassification of Marina Drive, the Planning
Commission of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows:
1. The General Plan, City of Seal Beach, prepared in 1966 shows
Marina Drive classified as a Primary Arterial Highway.
2. The 1966 General Plan shows higher residential densities than
currently exist or planned for in Seal Beach.
3. The 1966 General Plan shows proposed freeways which since
have been deleted by the State of California.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows:
1. Since the freeways that were proposed in 1966 have been deleted
by the State of California, lower traffic levels are expected
along Marina Drive.
2. Densities that were proposed for Seal Beach in 1966 have not
materialized and a reassessment of density requirements for the
City indicate lower densities and lower population than
shown in 1966.
3. In consideration of findings 1 and 2 above, it is recommended
that Marina Drive be reclassified as a Secondary Arterial
Highway which is considered adequate to serve the anticipated
traffic in Seal Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City
of Seal Beach does hereby approve and recommend that the City Council
reclassify Marina Drive as a Secondary Arterial Highway in the
Circulation Elemnet, Streets and Highways of the General Plan, City of
Seal Beach.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 16th day of May, 1973.
