RESOLUTION NO.
865
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLAtJNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY
COUNCIL DENY APPEAL APPLICATION NO. A-2-74.
(SURFSIDE COLOIlY, L TO.)
An appeal application was duly filed by Surfslde Colony, Ltd., P.O. Box 235,
Surfside, California, appealing Planning Commission approval of Variance V-13-74
filed by William A. Sosnowski, P.O. Box 263, Surfside, California.
The property in question is described as Lot 79, Block A, Surfside Colony.
The appeal is based on the proposal that the building have an entrance at the
first floor level in addition to a stairway, walkway and entrance at the second
floor level.
The appeal application was referred to the Planning Commission by the City
Council, and was considered by the Connission at their meeting of September 4, 1974.
Written information was reviewed and oral comments were received by the Planning
Commission.
THE PLANNING CO~'~IISSION NOW MAKES TfIE FOLLOWING FINDINGS:
I. The Planning Commission affirms its findings contained in Resolution No. 848.
2. The facilities proposed at the first level are of a utilitarian nature and
would not constitute living quarters in the traditional sense.
3. The granting of this variance shall not adversely affect the general plan
in that the site is proposed to be developed as a single family residence
in confor~ance with the general plan.
4. The applicant's lot is located on A row which is distinguished from the rest
of the Colony in that the houses on A row are situated on the beach between
the ocean and the first street parallel to the shore. Almost all of the
dwellings on A rO~1 are constructed on pilings, unlike other residences ln
Surfs ide COlony.
5. The applicants lot is .smaller than many of the lots in A row.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning COl11l1ission of the City of Seal
Beach does hereby recommend that the City Counc il deny Appeal Appl i cati on Ilo.
A-2-74 and uphold the granting of Variance V-13-74 subject to the conditions
contained in Planning Commission Resolution No. 848.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 4th day of September, 1974.
