RESOLUTION NO. 858
A RESOLUnOfl OF THE PLAflNING COMMISSIOfl OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH REcmlf.1ENDING TO THE CITY
COUNCIL THAT A BICYCLE PATH BE PLACED OU TIlE
PROPOSED PACIFIC ELECTRIC RIGHT-OF-WAY GREENBELT.
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of adopting a specific plan for the Pacific
Electric right-of-way; and
WHEREAS, on June 5, 1974, the Planning Commission conducted a pUblic hearing
on the proposed specific plan and made certain recommendations to the City
Council; and
WHEREAS, on July 22, 1974, the City Council conducted a public hearing on the
proposed specific plan and referred the matter of the location of bike lanes
back to the Planning Commission for a further report; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission reviewed various alternatives on August 7,
1974.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission does hereby recommend
as follows:

1. That the bike lanes be removed from the street and that a ten-foot wide
meandering bike path be located on the greenbelt.
2. That the sixteen feet that had been allocated for bike lanes in the two
Electric Avenues be included in the greenbelt, thus increasing its width
from one hundred feet to one hundred sixteen feet.
3. That provisions be made to facilitate the movement of fire trucks and
safety equipment into and out of alleys.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach on
this 7th day of August, 1974, at a regular meeting.
