A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH CONDITIONALLY APPROVING
UV-2-74 FOR THE INSTALLATION OF POST PAY PUMPS
IN AN EXISTING I~ONCONFORMmG SERVICE STATION IN
THE C-l ZONE. (DOUGLAS OIL)
WHEREAS, in the matter of Use Variance Application No. UV-2-74, the Planning
Commission of the City of Seal Beach does report as follows:
1. Subject case initiated by Douglas Oil Company, 881 Dover Drive, Newport
Beach.

2. Subject property described as 16305 Pacific Coast Highway. (Legal
description on file.)
3. Subject proposal is to install post pay type pumps, sell ~iscellaneous
products and beer and wine at a nonconforming service station in the
C-l zone, nonconforming by reason of less than required lot area, frontage
on a street, building setback, landscaping, parking and block wall.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission findings are as follows:
1. Post pay pumps have been installed without building permits.
2. Only goods and services needed in the normal maintenance of automobiles
may be sold at automobile service stations.
3~ Seal Beach Police Oeparonent, Fire Department and Huntington Beach Planning
Commi ss i on oppose the sale of beer and wi ne as ~/e 11 as the sale of
miscellaneous food products at service stations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal
Beach does hereby conditionally approve Use Variance UV-2-74 for installation
of post pay pumps subject to the following conditions: (1) no beer and wine to
be sold, (2) no miscellaneous products may be sold except ite~s normally sold
in vending machines (cigarettes, candy, etc.), and (3) affirmation by the City
Council.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 6th day of February, 1974.
