RESOLUTION NO. 930 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH AFFIRMING RECOMMENDATIONS ON PROPOSED HEIGHT LIMITS IN SURFS IDE COLONY. WHEREAS, on June 4, 1975, by Resolution 916 the Planning Commission adopted and recommended revised zoning provisions for Surfside; and WHEREAS, on June 23, 1975, City Council held a public hearing on the proposed zoning provisions for Surfside and referred the matter of building height back to the Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, on July 2, 1975, the Planning Commission considered the City Council referral on the subject of building heights; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission considered the following factors: 1. The current evolution from one and two story buildings to 35 foot high buildings. 2. The perceived fire hazard increase with taller buildings. 3. The reduction of light and open quality due to 35 foot high buildings. 4. The small lots which are being more intensively used by building larger structures. 5. Houses can be constructed which are comparable in size to houses on Marina Hill with the proposed height reduction. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City of Seal Beach does hereby recommend that City Council adopt the following height limits: 1. "A" Row - maximum height of three stories - 30 ft. on rear 1/2 of the lot and 2 stories - 25 ft. on the front 1/2 of the lot. 2. "B" Rowand "C" Row - Maximum height of 30 ft.
