MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING OF FEBRUARY 5, 1975 The Plannlng Commlsslon of the Clty of Seal Beach met ln regular seSSlon on Wednesday, February 5, 1975, In the CouncIl Chambers of the CltV Admlnlstratlon BUIldIng The meetlng was called to order bv Chalrman Lannlng at 7 30 p.m and the Pledge to the Flag was led by VIce Chalrman Rlpperdan Present Cook, SChmltt, Rlpperdan, Knapp, LannIng Absent None The mlnutes of January 15, 1975, were unanlmouslv approved as corrected 1 PublIc HearlngS A Harvey Webb (Carl Irwln), V-1-75 Request to permlt a 6" structural encroachment Into a requlred slde yard for forty-four feet of a second story addltlon to an eXlstlng slngle faml1y resIdence at 701 Taper Drlve PubllC hearlng opened Carl IrWln, 1631 AtlantIc Ave , Long Beach, stated that the encroachment was due to an Inaccurate fIeld measurement when the plans were drafted He pOlnted out that the encroachment began at about 9 ft above grade, the natural grade had not been chanqed and a 12'6" dlstance eXlsted between the subJect house and the nelghbor's house Harvey Webb, 701 Taper Drlve, spoke ln favor of the request. No one spoke ln Opposltlon to the varIance PublIC hearlng closed Mr Knapp moved to approve V-1-75, seconded by Mr Rlpperdan and unanlmously approved. Resolutlon No 887 B Thomas Greeley, CP-1-75 Request to permlt structural alteratlons to a nonconformlng slngle faml1y resldence ln the R-3 zone, nonconformlng by reason of less than requlred parklng, substandard rear yard and one substandard SIde yard at 1629 Seal Wav The proposal lS to add 70 Sq ft to an eXlstlng second story artlst StUdl0 above the eXlstlng qarage. PubllC hearlng opened. Thomas Greeley, 1629 Seal Way, stated that the StUdl0 addltlon was actually the encloslng of an eXlstlng open porch at the second level In response to a questlon, Mr Greeley stated that hIS garage was currently used for storage of materlals ln conJunctlon wlth the general renovatlon of the house and that he would shortly be openIng up the garage for automoblle parklng No one spoke ln Opposltlon to the reouest PubllC hearlng closed.
