RESOLUTION NUMBER 1582
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH APPROVING CONDITIONAL
USE PERMIT 7-90, A REQUEST TO AMEND THE
ORIGINAL CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL OF
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT 8-85
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, on May 3, 1990, Craft Master Sign corporation filed an
application for Conditional Use Permit 7-90 requesting
to amend the original conditions of approval of
Conditional Use Permit 8-85. Specifically, the
applicant is requesting to replace the Rossmoor
Business Center identification sign (as approved
through CUP 8-85) with a new sign integrating a center
identification sign, a theatre identification sign and
a theatre informational marquee. Proposed sign to be
98 square feet larger than sign approved through CUP 8-
85: and
WHEREAS, the subject property is located on the west side of
Seal Beach Boulevard north of st. Cloud Drive: and
WHEREAS, the subject property is described as Parcels 1 through
11 of Section 31, Township 4 south, Range 11 west in
Rancho Los Alamitos, County of Orange, State of
California as per map filed with the Recorder of said
county: and
WHEREAS, the surrounding land uses and zoning are as follows:
NORTH, WEST - single family residences and multi-
SOUTH family residences located within
Rossmoor, an unincorporated territory of
the County of Orange.
EAST a mixture of open space utilized for the
most part as a golf course in the
Recreational Golf zone, (R-G),
retail/commercial uses in the General
commercial zone, (C-2) and residential
uses in the city of Los Alamitos: and
WHEREAS, the Planning commission approved a planned sign program
for the Rossmoor Business Center through the approval
of CUP 8-85 (Resolution 1377 enclosed). The applicants
subsequently appealed conditions of approval 1 and 2 to
the City Council and the council overturned both
conditions through the adoption of Resolution 3529: and
WHEREAS, Resolution 3529 allowed the center to add a double-
sided 75 square foot readerboard to the bottom of the
existing center identification sign. Said readerboard
has yet to be added, but has received City Council
approval: and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed PUblic
Hearing on June 6, 1990, and approved Conditional Use
Permit 7-90.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning commission of the
city of Seal Beach does hereby approve conditional Use Permit
7-90, subject to the following conditions:

1. Conditional Use Permit 7-90 is approved to amend the
original conditions of approval of Conditional Use Permit 5-
85, as amended through the City Council's approval of Appeal
4-85. Specifically, CUP 7-90 is granted for a center
identification/theatre identification/theatre marquee sign
of approximately 324 square feet to be located at 12121 Seal
Beach Boulevard (Rossmoor Business Center).
2. Construction documents and the location of the proposed sign
shall be in substantial conformity with the plans approved
through Conditional Use Permit 7-90.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Planning Commission of the
City of Seal Beach at a meeting thereof held on the 6th day of
June, 1990, by the following vote:
