RESOLUTION NO. 02 - 27 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH MAKlNG THE DETERMINATION THAT THE SIGN PROPOSED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL BUILDING AT 257 SEAL BEACH BOULEVARD IS CONSISTENT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 28-1157, AND FURTHER DEFINES ALLOWABLE SIGNS WITHIN THE L-C ZONE FOR MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE RHD SIGN STANDARDS. THE PLA1\TNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: . WHEREAS, On May I, 2002, Andrew von Gremp inquired about placing an identification sign at the multi-family residential building located at 257 Seal Beach Boulevard; and WHEREAS, City Staff reviewed the inquiry and was uncertain how to proceed with the application as this is the only building of this size located in the Limited COlmnercial Zone; and WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 28-2202 of the Code of the City of Seal Beach, a hearing was held before the Planning Commission on May 22, 2002 to clali.fy the ambiguity; and WHEREAS, The Planning COlmnission made the following findings: . The proposed sign is to be located at a building which is legally non-confonning and contains more than 10 units. Buildings which contain more than 10 units in the Residential High Density zone are pennitted an identification sign not to exceed ten square feet. This building is substantially sinlilar to those buildings, and represents the only such building located in the Limited COlmnercial (L-C) zone. . . This detennination would be consistent with the provisions of the Land Use Element of the City's General Plan, which provides a "Limited Commercial" designation for the subject area alld pennits mutli-family residential land uses. The use is also Planning Commission Resolution No 02-27 Dete17nination of Proper Zoning Signs in Residential Zones May 22, 2002 . consistent with the remaining elements ofthe City's General Plan as the policies of those elements are consistent with, and reflected in, the Land Use Element. Accordingly, the proposed use is consistent with the General Plan. NO'\', THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning COlmnission hereby makes the determination that the proposed sign is in compliance with the spirit and intent of the sign code and should be subject to the Residential High Density provisions of the sign code, section 28-1804.2. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Planning COlmnission of the City of Seal Beach at a meeting thereof held on the 22nd day of May 2002, by the following vote: AYES: Commissioners Brown, Cutllli.
