MINUTES ENVIRONHENTAL QUALITY CONTROL BOARD TUESDAY r~Y ,18, 1982 REGULAR MEETING 7;30 P.M. , The regular monthly meeting of the Seal Beach Environmental Quality Control. Board was called to order by Chairman Willson at 7:40 p.m. in Room 28 of the City Hall with LaBar serving as Acting Secretary. ROLL CALL -- Present: Grayson, Kolb, LaBar, Potter, Willson. MINUTES In the minutes of April 20, 1982 a correction was made in discussing the Peripheral Canal. The second senteHce under this heading should have read, II He is a member of the Water Resources Committee of the ARWA". After making this correction it was moved and seconded and 'the minutes approved. DISCUSSION - OLD BUSINESS Hazardous Waste:The Chairman reported,of the twenty two letters, commenting on the frequency that the San Gabriel River was a source of contamination to our beach, replies had been received from thirteen agencies and interested personnel. The replies were circulated to the Board members after which the responses were discussed at length, particularly the one from James W. Anderson of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Santa, Ana Region located at Riverside. He offered to meet with our Board,along with his counterpart of the Los Angeles Region, and attempt to clarify their respective jurisdictional areas:. ~.- ,-. ,~.:-:~~. -:. Further more, they would outline actions which are being taken to prevent the problems which may exist in the San Gabriel River. The Board decided to accept this offer and attempt to schedule it for the regular June 15, 1982 meeting. Also it was agreed to invite all those who responded to our letter of April 9, 1982,as well as interested City personnel. The following assignment were made to accomplish this open Board meeting. The Chairman is to contact Executive Officer Anderson and determine if the date suggested by the Board is satisfactory to his group. LaBar will draft a letter of invitaion to the responders. Potter will explore the matter of publicity with the Seal Beach Journal DISCUSSION - NEW BUSINESS (None) ADJOURNHENT The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
