The regular monthly meeting of the Seal Beach Environmental ~'~lity Control Board
was called to order by Chairman Grayson at 7: 35 p.m,
The pledge of Allegiance was led by Gray so !l ,
ROLL CALL .
Present: Grayson, Kolb, Potter, Willson, LaBar joined the meeti"g at 7:40 p.m.
MINUTES
Moved and seconded that the minutes of the October 21 meeti~ be a?proved as
corrected. Carried.
DISCUSSION - OLD BUSINESS
Off-shore Airport Project:The Chairrr..::!n reported that it was iEp==-rative that the~ Board
finalize a written report to the COQ~Cil since a December 14 dead-line had been set by
SCAG for comments on their submission.
At the October meeting the conclusion reached,after a searchi"'s re7ien and study by
the Board,was that the EIR failed to cover TIJa.."1Y iJ:lportant }X>ints a:;.d there was lac}<:
of supporting data in numerous cases. At that time, the Cha i r .:l2.!! as~ed. Board IDem bers
for written comments to be used in dr-eIting the final report,
After much discussion,and using for the most part a proposed ~~t ~j Potter as a
guide, the Board was able to pin-point the major areas of deficie~cies and the possible
effect on Seal Beach, Writing of the fhl~l report nas under-....ake~ a::d completed,
Moved by Kolb, seconded by LaBar that the Board approve the ag:::-eed upo::l report for
submission to Seal Beach City' COQ~cil. The SecretarJ was req1.:ested to deliver a copy
to City offices not later than November 21.
- NEW BUS INESS
Dust from Agricultural. Operations .2E Weaoons Station!.Land:This S"u.-oject was brought
to the Board's attention several meeti11gs ago and r..ad brief discussion. The agricultural
operations being carried out at this location results in dense dust clouds,at times,
The dust invades surrounding homes CL~d also is a definite p.azari to driving on the
freeway and Seal Beach Blvd.,when the nind is in certain directions,
The Chairman reported a discussion r..ad been held with City officials, It was suggested
that the next time this occurs it should be reported to the weapons Station officials.
They should be able to take corrective action with those renti~~ the l~~d.
After discussion,it was moved by Kolo, seconded by Potter, that L2~r be assigned the
responsibility of reporting the occurre::lce to the proper Weapons Station personnel.
Carried.
Review of Projects and Priority List:T:l'lere was a brief discussion of items on our;
Priority List. The Chairman suggested that the subject be included in the agenda "
for the next meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
